Heathrow Main Runway at Midnight

Flying Glass was part of an unusual shoot with Fluid Productions of Keswick. Heathrow Airport’s Northern runway was closed for several hours, with the runway lights still on, not to guide planes, but a group of Heathrow workers doing a charity marathon.

The Heathrow colleagues were taking on the ultimate running challenge and tearing down the tarmac to bring the Heathrow community together and raise £100k for charity. On Saturday 12 September, the first ever marathon was run on the Northern runway in this unique event.

Flying glass was asked to provide a live HD feed from the runway back to the base in Terminal 5, some 500m away. With the necessary permissions and licences, and using our amazing licenced frequency Cobham HD video link, the job went off without a hitch. A great experience for all!
